Trail run for 6/25?

Gee, I wonder if anyone reads these blogs?
Hey Self,  It looks like there is nothing planned for this coming Sat, 6/25.  I wonder if anyone wants to do a day run?
Maybe Spring Creek, or Red Elephant-Mill Creek Loop-Bill Moore, Jenny Creek, or T-33 Plane crash, or Twin Cone? or ANYTHING. (besides Chinaman :0)
 Anybody intrested?

Comments

It appears that everyone can go on Sunday and there are two trails available; Spring Creek and Red Elephant to Bill Moore.

I can't make on Sunday, but i am 4 wheel'n with my Grand Kids on Sat.,   going to Miller Rock.

If anyone wants to hit Miller Rock on Sat. let me know.  303-776-9795

Howdy Vic,

I have not seen a post about Spring Creek for Sunday. Who is going on that run? Is anyone going to post a run on our website for that? I saw a couple of posts suggesting that as a destination, but nothing firm yet. So far I just see Charlie and Aaron heading to Bill Moore Lake area.

I just wanna go jeepin!

Hi George, See Glenn reply, just below this post.

It is not a Patrol 2 event, Glenn just says he might tag along with Patrol 12, Fugowies, doing Spring Creek.  If you want to do that run, contact Glenn.

Vic :)

Ah. Okay Vic,

I saw Glenn's post, but was not certain if that was still the plan. Thanks for clearing it up. I am taking the weekend off from jeeping. Been out the past 10 weekends. Chinaman is likely my next trip, after I have those mods done.

I just wanna go jeepin!

I was just logging on to see if anyone wanted to join me on SUNDAY, the 26 to do Spring Creek, when I saw your Saturday request.
Does Sunday work for anyone? Patrol 12 is going up on Sunday, and I was just going to tag along with them, but if we can get together a little Patrol 2 Spring Creek run on that sunday, that would be better.

Hi Glenn,  Sorry, I have a commitment on Sunday.

Vic :)

Spring Creek will likely be under snow still this weekend. I may be up to trying it, but cannot commit at this time. Gene is looking at doing some jeeping this weekend, so whatever is decided I am sure he will go along.

Two weeks ago we did the Waldorf mine run, and we hit heavy snow at about 9,000 ft. Spring Creek tops out at 11,000 ft. The Waldorf run is on a south facing mountain side, and Spring Creek is on a North facing mountain side.  Both runs are within a stones throw of Georgetown. Given that, I would bet that Spring Creek will not be passable yet.

And no, I am not colorblind. I just don't care. I am not about show, and all about go. If my rig gets me from point A to point B, thats good enough for me. I will let those pretty boys driving their Toyota FJ's make sure their gas cans match their toy rigs.

Just my two cents.

I just wanna go jeepin!

I was looking at the hills on the way back from Steamboat last weekend, and there didn't apear to be any snow near Georgetown.
I did a quick search and found this....
6/22/11 - Open from the Downieville side to the Georgetown side. Rain has washed a lot of the trail out. large mud holes not clearly seen or avoided. Rock garden is pretty technical. other than that, it was a wonderful trip!

If it is open, Spring Creek is a great run. Brandon and I did it last year in August. Fun trip. I do not think I will be able to make any runs this weekend though. Work has been piling up on me too much.

I just wanna go jeepin!

Hey Vic,

would love to - have a commitment in the a.m. (need to get my wife to the airport) and free all afternoon if that fits your plans.

Gavan

Hey Gavan, How you been do'in?  Last time i saw you, WE were covered in mud:o)

What time can you make it to let's say Idaho Springs?

OOPS.  I just saw the post about Bill Moore Lake AND Spring Creek for Sunday, 6/26.

Looks like those runs are taking prescedence, since they are a definite and this blog was just a maybe, and to inquire about intrest.

Can you make it Sunday?

Vic :)

Yeah - I remember the mud well :-)

Yes, I can make Sunday - anytime that suits you well. I am also just fine doing either Bill Moore Lake or Spring Creek. Do you have preferences?

gavan

Sorry, just realized you can't make Sunday. I can make Saturday afternoon, say 2pm onwards. Also, feel free to call if that's easier: 303-859-3276. Gavan

I would be interested in a run Vic. I have always wanted to head up to T-33, although any of the runs you mentioned are fine with me. I would note that any run above about 9,000 ft. is likely covered in snow still though. Gene was out near Beuna last weekend and tried several trails, and all of the runs they tried hit heavy snow above about 9,000 ft.  On our Waldorf run from two weekends ago, we hit snow about 9,000 ft. and made it to around 10,000 ft. busting snow all the way before we finally turned back due to huge drifts still along the trail.

Let me know.

What a tease!  I would love to do any of those runs.  Stuck in rain here  in MN.  Weather sucks!  Other than that, we're getting adjusted.

I'm with Vic.  Those red cans just clash with the Jeep color.  I'd at least go to olive drab.

Have a great time in the hills, I'll be thinking about it.

Terry

Can we get a volcano in ND so I have some place to Jeep when I move back to MN?

Hey, How about that!  People do read the blogs!

Hi George!  How you doing?  What mods are you doing to your hunk of junk:o)

Let's see if anyone else wants to go...we can make it a mystery run,  or vote, etc.

Bill Moore lake is probably still snowed in.

Howdy Vic,

I am doin well thanks. And you?

I am putting front and rear ARB lockers on, going to 513 gears, Moly front axles, 30 spline on the front end, Moly U joints to the front, along with a couple of other minor items. A bit pricey, but its only money right?

P.S. Gene said he was up for a run for this weekend, that would make three.....

Hi George,  Sounds like you are doing the mods the right way!  You are going to have an unstopable machine! Gotta do something about those red gas cans though:0)  Come on everyone;  What is you opinion about the red gas cans!  What is your opinion Jerry?

Instead of Chinaman, you should go next door and do New Carnage!!  What ya think!

I hope Gene can make it!  Is he a definite, YES?  The more the merrier.

Vic :)

I could paint those cans I guess, but whats the point? They carry gas, I dont really care if they are red, green, or pink with purple polka dots as long as they carry enough gas for me to make it to the end of the trail.

I will not have my mods done to my jeep until the week of July 4th, so I think Carnage is definately out until then at the very least.

Gene is a definate yes for this coming weekend. Like me, he just likes to wheel.
