Left Hand Canyon

Howdy Patrol 2,
 
     Left Hand Canyon! This run is rated 7-8 if bad mother hill is included, and we will be inclduing it! The twist this time will be running it backwards. We will still run Bad mother hill the hard way, but at five points we will take a right and head up Firemans Hill. We normally run this through the squeeze first, and then down firemans hill. But since the squeze has been bulldozed after the latest fire there, we will now try it in the opposite direction!
 
  We will meet at the IHOP in Boulder at 9:00 am, and leave for the trailhead no later then 10:15. Please make sure your rig is gased up and ready to go by then.
 
  If you are unable to post here for any reason, please contact me directly so I can make the breakfast reservations.

This morning I drove out Lefthand Canyon Rd to the the trailhead, and up FS286 to the Five Points intersection. Although there was some snow and ice on the road, it was an easy drive and the trail was well traveled. At the Five Points intersection, the snow gets deeper but not bad and all the roads have had some traffic. On the way back I went up Big Mother Hill to the steep climb before turning around. Again it looked like there had been a number of vehicles through since the big storm last week.
I didn’t see anything that would suggest we not go on Saturday.

Left Hand canyon reportedly got 48" of snow in this last storm.  I'm planning to make a reconnaissance trip up there later this week to see if we can get past the trail head.
