On Saturday, June 12th, Patrol 2's Monthly Meeting was held at the North Jeffco Park in Arvada, CO. Galen Burkhardt did excellent work obtaining the park permit and providing those attending with Elk Burgers and Jumbo Dogs extraordinaire'! Despite Saturday's unseasonably wet, dreary and cool weather, twenty fearless Patrol 2 members and guests braved the elements to enjoy the camaraderie and wonderful eating that makes Patrol 2 monthly meetings so special. We especially thank Galen and Jim & Karen Chambers for providing canopies and propane space heaters, which were deeply appreciated by all attending. Patrol 2 never leaves anyone on the trail and we do our best to make sure people don't get hypothermia at monthly meetings. :>)
Rich Stockton, along with Jim Chambers, John Clark and Matt Hawkins, provided us with an informative and funny redux of the hugely successful Grand Canyon adventure. The way each of them earned nicknames during the trip was especially noteworthy and Bill David has some explaining to do.
Pat Underwood gave us a rundown on Memorial Moab, which was plagued with vehicle breakdowns. Fortunately, he and Deb did not breakdown and were able to run the Moab trifecta (Poison Spider, Golden Spike, Gold Bar Rim) with Travis Nelson on Saturday and Sevenmile Rim on Sunday. Sadly, Glenn and Kionnie were unable to get to Moab (their Memorial Moab story is available elsewhere at the website) and Jim Chambers unexpectedly busted his rear drive shaft on a very easy portion of Sevenmile Rim. The extent of damage Travis Nelson suffered on Wipeout Hill is still unknown. Pat and Deb both agreed that their Memorial Moab weekend was a lot of fun and as everyone knows, it's always a blast to wheel with the Underwood's.
It's always an honor when people join the MHJC. It's even better when they choose to join Patrol 2. I'm very pleased to announce that George Gallie and Ann McDonald have become MHJC and Patrol 2 members. They're fun and personable folk who have taken to Patrol 2 like ducks to water.
Brandon Morris met several Patrol 2 members at the MHJC Parent Club and because of you, has joined the MHJC and Patrol 2. Brandon has great energy and like everyone in Patrol 2, a fine sense of humor. We really enjoyed Jeeping with he and his Dad Craig this morning at Slaughterhouse Gulch.
Concerning George, Ann and Brandon, we really look forward to Jeeping with them during the coming months and years.
We were also honored by Keith and Jessica Barto, along with their beautiful eight month old daughter, attending the meeting. Keith is the fellow that our Patrol 2 Weekday Wheelers rescued on Yankee Hill. Keith indicated that they are planning to join the MHJC and we hope they will consider Patrol 2 once they do.
Again, thanks to Galen and everyone who attended. Our next Patrol 2 meeting will take place on either Saturday or Sunday, July 11th or 12th. Time and location is TBD and please let us know if you're willing to host the event. Until then, happy trails and we look forward to seeing all of you in the near future.
