Several of my co-workers own Jeeps. They range from Rubicon to near stock TJ. My 94' YJ is a dinosaur compared to their relatively modern rigs.
I'm constantly inviting these folks to wheel with us, but they seem reluctant to do so. Fact is, the most frequent reason they cite is, "my Jeep isn't ready". Heck, these folks keep driving their not "ready" rigs to work day after day!
I'm curious. Is it possible to own a Jeep without ever wheeling it?
Some just want to have big tires and hi lift to show off>

One of the best reasons for living in Colorado is the diversity in activities available to do at any one time. Hiking, biking, rafting, Harley riding, baseball games, concerts, boating, festivals, farmers markets, car shows, walks in the park, picnics, fishin', huntin, geocaching, family, and a host of other activities, and yes occasionally work, is what make living here fun. Not to mention the best summer weather in the country to do it all in. Hard to choose or limit one's self to just one activity. I'm just too ADHD to sit still for just one activity all the time. Variety is what makes us individuals and interesting. Right now wheelin' is at the top of the list. And what puts it up there are all the interseting and cool folks we get to wheel with. So once a week or every once in a while, just enjoy what you're doing and where you are. I just hope I get a chance to cross paths with all of you out here once in a while.
Just because you have a Jeep (or other 4x4) doesn't mean you got it for wheeling. Quite the contrary. Most are purchased for traction in the Colorado snow and ice. As everyone knows, stressing a vehicle beyond it's design can cause it to break (what, a Jeep Break while wheeling.... never) Some people only have one vehicle (their Jeep) and can not afford to be without a daily driver.
Wheeling rigs are special purpose vehicles. The average 4x4 is not made, purchased, or used for off road use. Just like 99.9% of people with Pick Up trucks never tow 10,000 lb oil rig parts even though thats what all the commercials show!

There are lots of folks out there who don't know what they are missing!
But just think of how crowded it would be if everyone who owned a 4x4 would hit the trails every weekend.
So everyone, what do you think are the most common reasons for folks who own 4x4, not to go 4 wheel'n?
#1 Too busy.

Vic,
I think being "too busy" is a nice way of saying not interested. One of my top 5 maxims states: "People always find time to do the things they really want to do". If folks owning a Jeep occasionally wanted to do some Jeeping, they'd find the time.... :>)

I work with and know folks who have lifted jeeps with 35" tires but they bought them for the looks. They won't even take them on dirt roads. But I've also noticed there are many folks in Patrol 2 that don't seem to make it out much either. We all do what we can to get away from our everyday lives and experience the great outdoors. For some, not so much.
In my experiance if you want a guy that is married to do a hobby that takes up more than a couple of hours in a week you have to hook the wife first, Hook her and he will come along like a pup.
OR you have the hobby before you hook the woman and tell her it's a package deal!!

Daryl is correct and this isn't the least bit complicated.
Get your woman to own a Jeep. Tell her she's a fox when driving it. Everything else just naturally follows.....

AHHH, but there's the rub.... isn't one of the points of having a woman to be riding with her? If she has her own Jeep, you'll be in yours, she'll be in hers :(
Not as much fun as sharing the front seats!

Speaking of rubbing, sharing a front seat isn't nearly as much fun as sharing the back seat.... :>)
