New Info: Stock rigs, depending upon driver capability, could have difficulty with this run. Rigs with lifts, larger than stock tires and front or rear lockers could have a blast wheeling this run. Hope to see you there!
Previous Info: Be there or be square. It'll be a hoot!!!
Previous Info: A little something nearer our jeepin' friends up north. Middle St. Vrain/Coney Flats, nestled in the Roosevelt National Forest up near Peaceful Valley off Hwy 72, should prove to be a fun yet relatively easy run. Rated somewhere from 4 to 6 it has some rocks to climb, streams to cross, and water to wade. Trail damage has info also. All this and a short hike to the Timberline Waterfalls. Sounds like a HOOT! Who's In? The total run is around 11 miles or so and should take 5 to 6 hours depending on how much time we take looking at and photographing the breath taking views.
Let's start the day with breakfast at the Sundance Cafe at 08:30, just a mile south of Nederland at 23492 Hwy 119 (for you MapQuest folk). I've eaten a good lunch there before and breakfast looks pretty good also (check out their web site). It's only 18 mi north to the Middle St Vrain turn off so if we leave at 09:30 (depending on the service) we should hit the trail by 10:15. So if you're not eating just be there at 09:30. Gas is available in Nederland. We will air down at the trail head. We will lunch somewhere on the trail as usual. Bring cameras and lots of enthusiasm and we will make this yet another fun day in Colorado.Who has it better than us? NOBODY! Who knows, maybe we'll stop in Nederland after the run for dinner and check out the frozen dead guy!
